Terry O Connors grew up in Southern Oregon and
has led fishing trips on the Rogue and other areas rivers since 1968. He is
presently has the most seniority of all full time guides on the Wild and Scenic
Rogue river canyon. He is a friendly bear of a guy with a robust laugh who
weaves great Rogue river yore tales. His deep knowledge and abiding respect of
the Rogue, Chetco, Sixes, Elk, and Umpqua rivers comes from his heritage: he
bought the fishing and rafting business from a protege of Glen Wooldridge, the
Grandfather and Pioneer of Rogue River Boating. The result: the oldest and most
established river running business on the Rogue, Rogue Excursions. He is also
one of the most accomplished fishing guides in the west and patient as the day
is long with those wanting to learn the art of fly fishing and catch salmon and
steelhead in Oregon.
Brian Yates is an accomplished fishing guide
and a very nice guy. His Deschutes river trips are first rate affairs with one
opportunity after another to catch great fish. Brian learned to fish in the
United Kingdom, where this Welsh lad and his father headed out into the misty
rivers every chance they got. What developed from there is a deep love and true
passion for fly fishing that has carried over into the high desert of Central
Oregon, which Brian has called home for nearly two decades. Brian and his team
of guides are regarded as among the most talented and friendly Deschutes river
guides available. These trips are led by experienced folks who share a genuine
desire to make sure you are as happy as possible as you drift and fish this
Oregon steelhead treasure.
Ron Lauzon lives near the
Sandy and Clackamas rivers and has made a living from his passion...fly
fishing...which he has been doing for over 30 years! He has built his guiding
and instruction style through lots of experience and training with many of fly
fishing's gurus (of which he is now one, but he won't admit it!) He is regarded
as one of the premier fly fishing instructors in Oregon and brings a humble,
patient and wise approach to each trip or class he leads. His is meticulous
about helping you learn how best to cast for and catch fish and to have fun
doing it! Ron also guides on the Deschutes river and has developed a faithful
following due to his friendly and caring approach.
Ron
VanIderstein is a McKenzie river legend. He has been fishing these
waters for nearly three decades and simply loves the McKenzie. He has also
taught fly fishing to number of eager students who then go out and start
landing fish. Ron has a deep laugh and twinkle in his eye and an unmatched
(almost childlike!) enthusiasm for helping guests enjoy the river. Ron lives in
the McKenzie river valley and is eager to get out on the water every single
day!
