The McKenzie has long been regarded as a premier native and stocked trout river in the Pacific Northwest. From its headwaters of the glaciers and snowfields over 10,000 feet above sea level to the confluence with the mighty Willamette River, the McKenzie is a river rich in history and scenery. Combined with world class fishing and classic whitewater, the McKenzie is a place of recreation and wilderness splendor.
McKenzie fishing trips from four hours to three days long are available for both spin and fly fishing enthusiasts. We drift down the river in our nimble McKenzie river drift boats, seeking native and stocked trout and steelhead. The native trout trips focus on fly fishing the pristine and secluded fishing holes found on the stretch of river from the town of McKenzie Bridge to the town of Vida. Native rainbows have long called these waters home and are typically plentiful for anglers to catch and release. In addition, planted trout are also found in the McKenzie. Up to five keepers per day of stocked trout are permitted.
We also offer fly fishing, spinning and bait gear trips for
steelhead below Leaburg Dam. These
trips are offered from May to November and are thought of as among the best in
Oregon for landing 5-12 pound steelheads. Our fishing guides are friendly,
enthusiastic and very experienced at outfitting first-rate professionally run
trips. We typically use 5-6 weight rods with floating line, as well as wet and
dry flies. One to three people fish from our state-of-the-art drift boats.
Also available on the McKenzie river trips are overnight lodging
options at the Adventure River House. This
Oregon vacation rental is an
ideal place to base for multi-day trips on the McKenzie or just to relax and
unwind before and/or after your trip.
